Description
When a drive starts to stall or file copies fail for no obvious reason, bad sectors are the usual suspect, yet the built-in checks are slow and vague. Macrorit Disk Scanner reads the whole surface sector by sector and marks every unreadable sector as a red dot on a block map, so you see which region is damaged at a glance.
While it scans, the window shows live speed, elapsed time, time remaining and the error count, so there is no guessing from a progress bar. The portable build runs without installing, which makes it easy to carry to another machine.
Sector-by-sector surface scan: Reads an entire hard drive or removable device to locate bad sectors
Block map view: Green is healthy and red is damaged, so the spread of errors is easy to see
Live progress details: Speed, elapsed time, time remaining and error count shown together
Scan range: Check only part of the disk instead of starting over each time
