Description
The scary part of moving to a new SSD is not opening the case, it is the operating system. Reinstalling means drivers, applications, data and a reconfigured environment, and there goes the day. HDClone takes the other route: clone the whole drive onto the new one — partition table, boot record, system and data together — so the machine boots into the same installation with the desktop icons where you left them.
Beyond migration it does image backup, packing a whole disk or a single partition into an image file to restore from later. It handles source and target drives of different sizes, and offers raw sector-by-sector copying for drives with bad sectors or filesystems it does not recognize. Miray also provides bootable media so the disks can be worked on outside Windows, which avoids the problem of the system drive being in use.
Several editions exist; the Free Edition listed here is free with limits on speed and features, with the commercial editions sold separately.
