JMRI

JMRI

Model railroad control and programming suite

Description

Once a layout gets big, programming each loco decoder by hand turns into a chore, signals, turnouts and control panels each live in their own corner, and getting trains to run themselves is a project of its own.

JMRI is an open-source toolset written in Java, and its programs split the work: DecoderPro handles the locomotive roster and decoder programming, PanelPro handles signaling, turnouts and control panels. It works with a long list of DCC hardware, including Lenz, SPROG, Fleischmann and Viessmann Commander, so you aren't tied to a single manufacturer.

Features

DecoderPro: keeps your locomotive roster and reads and writes decoder settings across brands, so you stop calculating CV values from a manual.

PanelPro: draws the control panel for the whole layout and sets up signaling, turnouts and track occupancy displays.

Logix: condition-and-action rules that make the layout react on its own, with scripting for anything the rules can't express.

Operations: brings train crews, schedules and freight consists into the automation, so the layout runs like a real railroad.

Wide hardware support: many DCC systems and controllers are supported, so switching equipment doesn't mean switching software.
