Description
A Java app that talks to MySQL needs a JDBC driver, and a random jar from the internet often disagrees with your server over authentication, time zones or character sets.
MySQL Connector/J is the official JDBC driver from the MySQL team, written in pure Java with no dependency on native client libraries. Put the jar on your classpath, write a connection string and it works with Tomcat, JBoss, Spring, GlassFish and similar stacks.
Pure Java: one jar, any platform, no MySQL client library needed.
Full SQL support: run queries, call stored procedures, handle input and output parameters and read result columns.
Pools and data sources: create connection pools and JDBC data sources through your application server.
Tracks the server: released alongside MySQL and supports MySQL 5.7 and later. A Java runtime is required.
