Description
You want that sweeping, jet-overhead metallic swirl from 70s and 80s records on your own drums, vocals or guitar, but you do not want to buy a plug-in for one flanging effect. Blue Cat’s Flanger does exactly that, and it is free.
The interface looks like an old analog synth with a row of knobs: gain, delay, rate, feedback and shape, plus a Spread slider on the stereo version that pushes the effect around your head and spreads it across the stereo field. It goes from a barely-there ripple to a harsh metallic sweep. Formats include VST, VST3 and AAX; the installers are large, so they are linked from the vendor’s own page.
Vintage flanging: Delay, rate and feedback give anything from soft, smooth filtering to a metallic edge.
Spread control: On the stereo version one knob turns a mono flange into a head-spinning stereo one.
Mono and stereo versions: Both are installed together, ready to load from your host.
Multiple plug-in formats: VST, VST3 and AAX, in 32-bit and 64-bit builds.
Free: Listed as freeware on the official site.
