Description
Some programs are written in Java and refuse to open, saying the Java runtime is missing, and the fix is to install a JRE. java.com offers Oracle's official Java for desktops: once installed, programs that depend on Java run directly on your computer.
The official download page currently shows Version 8 Update 511, released October 21, 2026, with a file size of 75.32 MB and a Download Java for Desktops button. Downloading means accepting the Oracle Technology Network License Agreement, and the page links to Oracle Java license information, so read the terms before commercial use.
