CCleaner

CCleaner

Veteran Windows system cleaner

Description

The C drive is nearly full, with browser caches, leftovers from uninstalled apps and temp files piling up, and digging through folders by hand is slow and risky. CCleaner does that digging for you: it scans first, lists what is safe to remove, and clears it all with one click once you confirm, covering Windows items plus the caches left by browsers and common apps.

It has been in the PC cleaning business for about twenty years, and the vendor says its file and registry cleaning technology is patented in the US. The free edition cleans junk, checks the health of your PC and manages startup items at no cost, while the paid editions add driver and software updaters, automatic cleaning and performance optimization. The official requirements are Windows 11, 10 and 8.1 in 32 and 64 bit.

Features

Health Check: one scan shows how much junk there is, which startup items slow boot and how much tracking data your browsers keep, then suggests fixes

Custom Clean: Windows items, browsers and common apps are listed separately, and you tick what to clean and leave the rest alone

Privacy cleaning: clears browser history, cookies and temporary files so less of your browsing stays on the machine

Registry cleaner: scans for broken registry entries and offers a backup before cleaning, so a bad change can be restored

Startup and browser add-on manager: lists programs that launch at boot so you can disable the slow ones, and handles browser extensions and plugins in the same place

Uninstall tool: shows installed software in one list so you can remove or rename entries without digging through Control Panel

Duplicate Finder: finds duplicate files by name, size and content and lets you decide which copy to keep to win back space

Disk Analyzer and Drive Wiper: shows which file types take the most space, and can wipe free space so deleted files cannot be recovered
