RegCool

RegCool

Multi-tab advanced registry editor

Description

Editing a single key in the built-in Registry Editor means expanding a long path every time, and comparing settings across two machines is hopeless — you end up eyeballing two windows side by side. RegCool takes all of that off your hands: it is a drop-in replacement for the Windows Registry Editor with a tabbed interface, so you jump between locations on one screen instead of collapsing and expanding forever.

The part that really matters is that it lets you take it back — edit, delete or import the wrong thing and Ctrl+Z walks it back to before you touched it, something native regedit never dared offer. Cleaning up leftover keys, batch-replacing paths, editing a remote machine's registry — all of it goes noticeably smoother than with the stock tool. No install, just unzip and run.

Features

Tabbed browsing: Open several registry locations at once and switch between tabs like web pages, no repeated expanding of deep paths.

Undo and redo: Every add, edit and delete can be reversed, with multi-level undo/redo — break something and step right back.

Registry compare: Put two keys, two exports, even two machines' registries side by side and see the differences instantly — great for tracking config drift.

Defrag and compact: Defragment and compact the registry to reclaim the holes that build up over time and shrink hive size.

Network registry: Connect to another PC on the LAN and edit its registry directly, without walking over to each machine.

Favorites and fast search: Bookmark frequently used keys for one-click access, search names/values/data across the whole registry quickly, and replace text in bulk.

Backup and restore: Back up a branch before you start and restore it in one click if anything goes wrong.
