Description
Most chat apps want a phone number and serve ads. If you would rather have a clean messenger and pick your own server, Jabber is still a good answer. Psi+ is the enhanced branch of the Psi client: the looks are plain to the point of nostalgia, yet XMPP accounts, group chat and file transfer are all there.
Its strength is tweakability: colour skins from light to dark, and layout and notifications for chat windows and the roster can be fine-tuned, ideal for people who like shaping a client to their habits.
Any XMPP account: speaks Jabber, connects to any compatible server, and can log into several accounts at once.
Group chat: join rooms with participant list, topic and history shown together.
Customisable UI: several colour skins and adjustable chat and roster layouts.
Cross-platform: official builds cover Windows, macOS and Linux.
