IMVU

IMVU

3D avatar social chat

Description

Anyone can type a message, but a tiny profile picture and a stream of text always feel one step removed. IMVU moves the conversation into 3D rooms: you build an avatar of yourself, walk into a room and chat face to face with people from around the world, with your character gesturing as you talk. Every user is a dressable 3D character, so chatting is more than a text box.

Customization goes deep. Hair, face, skin, outfits, accessories and pets can each be picked separately, and most clothes and furniture are made and sold by other users, so there is always something new to browse. Meet people by dropping into public rooms or searching by interest, then add the ones you click with as friends for private chats. The desktop client comes in Classic and Beta branches, and you sign in with an email, Apple or Facebook account.
