ProCraft

Native Android Tablet Painting App

Description

There are not many serious painting apps for Android tablets. If you want pressure-sensitive brushes and layers, you either make do with a phone photo editor or move to another platform. ProCraft is a native painting app written from scratch: the brush engine and GPU renderer are Rust with wgpu, the interface is Kotlin and Jetpack Compose, so strokes follow the pen and stay smooth as layers pile up.

The author ships a demo of a dusk scene painted on a Lenovo Legion tablet: pick the soft airbrush from the brush library, drag a color straight onto the canvas, add layers for the glow and the sun, draw a circle that snaps round, and finish the stars with Bloom. The whole thing takes under a minute and a half. It is in beta and needs Android 10 or later.
