Adblock Plus for Firefox

Adblock Plus for Firefox

Open Source Firefox Ad Blocker

Description

A 30 second ad before every video, pop-ups drifting over pages, a pile of cookie prompts to dismiss on each new site, and trackers following you around. With Adblock Plus installed in Firefox those get stopped while the page loads, so pages are cleaner and faster.

The interface stays out of the way: click the ABP icon on the toolbar and you get one switch for the current website and one for the current page, so letting a site through takes a click rather than a trip into settings. By default it lets non-intrusive ads without third-party tracking through to keep sites funded, and you can turn that off if you want it stricter.

Features

Per-site and per-page switches: The popup controls "this website" and "this page" separately, and allow-listing is one click.

Tracker script blocking: Blocks the scripts sites use to record what you do, cutting down on cross-site tracking.

Visible block counts: The icon can show how many items were blocked, and the panel lists numbers for this page and in total.

Advanced settings: An advanced tab exposes filter lists and debugging options for people who like to tinker.

Free and open source: Core blocking is free and GPL licensed; extras such as blocking cookie consent pop-ups and more distractions are part of Premium.
