Description
Layers, adjustment layers and timeline animation usually mean a Photoshop subscription, and a light image viewer cannot edit anything. Turning a folder of RAW shots into JPGs still means opening and exporting them one by one. Chasys Photo is a free Windows suite that packs a layer editor, an image viewer and a batch converter into one installer, three separate programs that do not get in each other's way.
The editor has adjustment layers, linked layers, frame animation with a timeline, icon editing, image stacking and pen input, and it opens native files from Photoshop, GIMP, Krita, Paint.NET and Affinity Photo, with Photoshop effect plug-ins supported too. The viewer starts fast, offers full screen and slideshow modes, and lists camera data and a histogram in its side panel. The converter runs multi-threaded across more than a hundred formats. Language files, including Simplified Chinese, are on the official site. It is Windows only, made by an individual developer, and the current version is 5.43.01.
Layer based editor: adjustment layers, linked layers, blend modes, textures and gradients cover everyday retouching and compositing
Animation and icons: a timeline and frame by frame animation, plus ICO and cursor editing, so a small animation or an app icon needs no extra tool
Opens other apps' files: native project files from Photoshop, GIMP, Krita, Paint.NET, PaintShop Pro, Pixlr and Affinity open directly, so switching tools skips the export step
Photoshop plug-in support: works with Photoshop effect plug-ins, running 32-bit and 64-bit ones in the same session, with a most recently used list
RAW and metadata: the editor, viewer and converter all read RAW, and the viewer side panel shows camera model, focal length, exposure time, ISO and a histogram
Multi-threaded batch conversion: the converter spreads work across CPU threads and shows converted, failed and time left live, over a hundred file formats in all
Viewer and slideshow: full screen, slideshow, animation preview and touch input, with left and right arrows to step through images
Languages and themes: language files for many languages including Simplified and Traditional Chinese can be downloaded, and the colors are adjustable
