Description
You are borrowing someone else's PC to fix a config file, the machine only has Notepad, and you have no rights to install Vim. Not a fun afternoon.
gVim Portable packs the graphical Vim into a no-install build. The 12 MB package sits on a USB stick or cloud drive and runs on any Windows PC without writing anything to the system. Unplug it and walk away.
If modal editing scares you, it ships an evim (Easy Vim) mode that behaves like Notepad, so you can start as a plain editor and pick up commands later.
No install, fully portable: unpack and run; settings and plugins travel with the drive, so every PC gives you the same editing setup.
Tabs and split panes: open several files at once and compare them side by side, with adjustable pane sizes.
Spell check and compiler hooks: check spelling as you type and hook into many compilers, jumping straight to error lines.
Format conversion: view text as hex, switch line endings between Unix, DOS and Mac, or export to HTML.
Easy Vim mode: a simplified, Notepad-style mode with no learning curve.
