Description
Cutting a video means dragging around the timeline, grading means building nodes by hand, and before you render you set up a pile of parameters — even for a pro it eats time. DaVinci Resolve Studio 21.1 did something that has the competition nervous: it ships a native MCP server. Under File > Setup AI Assistants you connect Claude, ChatGPT Codex and similar assistants, then say things in plain language — "warm up this shot," "cut to the dialogue," "export 1080p H.264" — and it drives the editing, grading and rendering itself.
This isn't a bolt-on plugin; it's a door the software opens natively, letting AI drive a toolchain that is already an industry benchmark. Resolve itself packs editing, color, VFX and audio into one application, so a project never has to round-trip between tools; the Studio edition further unlocks the Neural Engine's AI features, higher resolutions and faster rendering. The free version is plenty for personal editing, and Studio is a one-time purchase, not a subscription.
