Hybrid

Hybrid

A Qt front-end for advanced audio and video conversion

Description

x264, x265, ffmpeg and Vapoursynth are each excellent, but chaining them by hand means long command lines that get messy fast. Hybrid is a Qt front-end that puts a big stack of command-line encoders and filters behind a single interface and converts nearly any input into common audio and video formats and containers.

The author is upfront that it is meant for advanced users who already know containers and codecs, not for a wizard-style experience. In return the control is very fine-grained, with separate audio, video and filter profiles that you can save and combine.

Features

Formats: reads avs and almost everything mplayer or ffmpeg can decode; outputs x264, x265, VP9, ProRes, AV1 and more into mp4, mkv, m2ts, webm or avi, or a Blu-ray or AVCHD structure.

Audio encoding: AAC, MP3, AC-3, Vorbis, Opus, FLAC, DTS, PCM and EAC-3, with several AAC encoders such as qaac and FDK AAC.

Chapters and subtitles: handled for mkv, mp4 and Blu-ray, with manual or automatic chapter creation and pass-through.

Job queue: a built-in queue and bitrate calculator, plus the option to encode a single title or chapters.

Filtering: Vapoursynth, Avisynth (Windows only) and basic FFmpeg filters.

Big download: the Windows installer is around 2 GB because it bundles the whole toolchain, so grab it from the official downloads page.
