CAD Models from Your AI Agent

Description

Need an enclosure, a bracket or a gear train but can't model? text-to-cad is a plugin for AI agents: describe it in plain language and the agent writes each part as a build123d Python script, builds an editable model and exports STEP, GLB, STL or 3MF, with a built-in CAD viewer that follows every rebuild.

Beyond modelling it runs manufacturability checks, generates engineering drawings and connects to 3D printing, sheet metal and CNC services. Any agent that supports plugins or the skills framework works, including Claude Code, Codex, Cursor, Gemini and Grok. MIT licensed and free.

Features

Script-based models: A model is a Python script on build123d and Open CASCADE, and an edit rebuilds only what changed.

Export formats: STEP, GLB, STL and 3MF, with STEP ready to continue in other CAD software.

Engineering drawings: Dimensioned PDF drawings with views, hidden lines, hole callouts and a title block, plus 2D DXF output.

Manufacturability checks: DfAM checks wall thickness, overhangs and support volume; DFM reviews sheet metal, CNC machining and injection molding with cited rules.

Parts and extra skills: Finds off-the-shelf STEP parts such as screws, bearings and motors, with skills for URDF, SRDF and SDF robot and simulation files.

One-line install: A curl script on macOS and Linux or PowerShell on Windows sets it up in every agent app on your computer.
