Description
The stock Arduino IDE is fine until a project grows and you want code completion, library management and a clearer project layout. B4R is a free open-source environment where you write native Arduino programs in a BASIC-like language and still compile to native code for the board.
Install the Arduino IDE and .NET Framework 4 first, then point B4R at the Arduino executable under Tools, Configure Paths, and you can compile and upload straight away.
Code editing and hints: Syntax highlighting and parameter tooltips; hover a function to see its description and an example.
Library manager: A side panel lists libraries such as rEthernet, rWebSocketClient, rMQTT and rServo; tick one to add it to the project.
Native compilation: Programs end up as native Arduino code rather than interpreted scripts, which suits IoT and small-device projects.
Uncluttered window: Writing, picking libraries and compiling all happen in one plain main window.
