Motion

Motion

Animation library for React and JavaScript

Description

Page interactions pile up: entrances and exits, layout shifts, scroll linked effects, each needing its own state and transitions. Motion, formerly Framer Motion, makes them declarative: add a prop to a component and layout changes get smooth transitions automatically. It also works with plain JavaScript and Vue.

Open source under MIT, with an examples library and an AI toolkit on the site.

Features

Layout animation: automatic transitions when size or position changes, including shared layouts.

Gestures: hover, tap and drag map directly to animation states.

Scroll linked: drive animation from scroll position and build parallax.

Exit animations: play a leave animation before a component unmounts.

Hardware acceleration: leans on native browser capabilities to stay smooth.
