Description
The built-in Windows environment dialog crams Path into one tiny box. A dozen entries means scrolling, and there is no way to tell which directory stopped existing years ago.
Rapid Environment Editor lays user and system variables out as two trees on one screen. Multi-value variables such as Path expand to one entry per row, and missing paths and duplicates are flagged in red, so you stop checking each folder in Explorer by hand.
Drag entries to reorder them, and export a registry backup before or after any change so a bad edit has a way back. It also runs without installing, so it can live on a USB stick and work on any machine.
Two-pane variable tree: user and system variables are listed separately, and multi-value variables expand entry by entry.
Error highlighting: non-existent paths and duplicate entries turn red, with the reason shown in the inspector panel.
Drag to reorder: change the order of directories in Path by dragging, which decides which one wins.
Backup and search: export a .reg backup, and search variables by name or value.
Command line and portable mode: scriptable from the command line, with a no-install ZIP build.
