AppCompactor

AppCompactor

A wizard that shrinks portable apps with UPX

Description

A flash drive full of portable apps fills up fast, and launching from slow storage drags. AppCompactor, from PortableApps.com, takes a portable app's folder and squeezes its program files down in a few wizard steps.

It relies on UPX and lets you pick NRV2E, NRV2D, LZMA or Brute, optionally compressing any JAR and ZIP files in the folder too, or decompressing to undo it. When a job finishes it shows the size before and after and how much space you saved.

Features

Wizard flow: choose a folder, choose a method, run it, with no command-line switches to remember.

Several methods: UPX NRV2E, NRV2D, LZMA and Brute, plus a decompress option to revert.

JAR and ZIP too: tick a box to compress archives inside the app folder as well.

Before and after: see the original size, the compressed size and the space saved, then move on to another app.

Free and portable: no registry writes and nothing left behind when removed; the package is about 4 MB. The folder picker does not accept drag and drop.
