Description
You are in the middle of something and Windows pops up a restart prompt. Or a cumulative update lands, breaks a driver, and the built-in Settings page gives you no easy way to say which patch to undo. Windows Update decides everything and you get a Restart Now button.
WAU Manager hands that control back. On the dashboard you tick disable the built-in Windows Updates via group policies, stop the Windows Update service, and from then on you decide whether and when anything installs. It is not a hard lock: you pick a pace instead, whether that is search automatically but ask before installing, passive with progress only, or fully quiet.
When you do want updates, it lists what is available and installs only the ones you ticked. If something breaks afterwards, the uninstall page removes a single patch, and the hide function stops an unwanted update from being offered again.
Three update modes: Normal (search automatically, ask before installing), Passive (search and install, show progress only) and Quiet (fully automatic with notifications).
Scheduled unattended updates: set a start time and a repeat interval in days, with optional automatic reboot.
Install updates: recommended and optional updates are listed, and only the checked ones are installed.
Uninstall and hide updates: remove installed patches, or hide one and bring it back later from the unhide page.
Update history: see what was installed and when, which helps when tracking down a problem.
Daily Defender definition updates: keep Microsoft Defender signatures current even with automatic Windows updating turned off.
The build offered here is a Simplified Chinese localization, free to use.
