Camera viewer app

Camera viewer app

Dual camera viewer

Description

Windows' built-in Camera app opens one device at a time, and most alternatives are either bloated or want an account. Checking a pair of cameras, or comparing how two devices see the same scene, turns into a chore.

Camera viewer app (formerly CamView) keeps the job small. It detects every compatible camera on startup and shows two feeds side by side. If the two cameras differ in resolution, each gets its own video mode, frame rate and brightness threshold. The window resizes freely and the pictures scale with it.

It also has a rarely seen extra: a live histogram of the video stream. If you can read one, it is a far more reliable guide to exposure and contrast than your eyes. To keep a frame, pause the feed and save it as a JPEG.

Features

Two cameras on one screen: Side-by-side feeds with separate resolution, frame rate and threshold settings.

Several display modes: Switch between thresholded, raw grayscale and raw color views to bring out different details.

Live histogram: A luminance distribution under the picture shows over- or under-exposure at a glance when you calibrate.

Image controls: Brightness, contrast, gamma, hue, saturation and sharpness in the properties panel, plus mirror, flip and low-light modes.

Pause and save: Freeze the video and write the current frame to JPEG, or BMP and other image formats.

Czech and English UI: Both languages are built in, and a virtual test camera lets you try it without any hardware.
