GraphicsMagick

GraphicsMagick

Command line image processing toolkit

Description

Converting, compressing and thumbnailing thousands of images by clicking through a GUI is a slog. GraphicsMagick has no interface at all: one command handles a whole folder, which makes it a natural fit for scripts and servers.

It descends from ImageMagick but runs leaner and faster, using OpenMP threading so more CPU cores means more speed. It reads and writes over 92 formats, including AVIF, HEIC, JPEG-2000, JXL, WebP and PDF.

Features

Format conversion:Switch between JPEG, PNG, TIFF, WebP, AVIF, HEIC and more with a single gm convert.

Batch processing:gm mogrify resizes, crops, watermarks and recolors a whole batch, ideal for bulk thumbnails.

Montage and compositing:Build contact sheets with montage and layer images with composite, all from the command line.

Multi-threaded:Large images and big batches finish faster on machines with more cores.

Open source and embeddable:Interfaces for C, C++, Perl and other languages let you build it into your own programs.
