Description
Changing one field in a JSON file with thousands of lines means counting brackets in a text editor, and one missed comma breaks the whole parse. JSONedit lays the document out as a tree: expand nodes to follow objects and arrays, select one and edit its name, type and value in the side panel without touching any punctuation.
The same data switches between tree, list and text views, and for bulk work on arrays there is an array editor that shows a row of objects like a spreadsheet. It has built-in search, can fetch JSON over HTTP before you edit it, and the text mode uses Scintilla for syntax highlighting. It comes as a portable zip, unzip and run, and is free.
Tree editing:Expand objects and arrays by level and edit a node's name, type and value in the side panel.
List and text views:Switch the same data to a list or raw text, with syntax highlighting in text mode.
Array editor:Lay out the objects in an array as a table to view and change fields in bulk.
Array generation:The context menu clones a node N times, runs scripted cloning, or imports CSV into an array.
Search:Find nodes and values across the document, with find next.
HTTP client:Request an API and edit the returned JSON directly, with no saving to a file first.
Tree colouring and dark tree:Colour the tree nodes, or use the dark tree display.
