Videos you saved have a way of disappearing: the uploader takes them down, the channel gets closed, a rights holder sends a letter — and your playlist turns into a row of dead links. The alternatives are downloading things one by one into a messy folder, or just living with the recommendation feed.
MyTube takes the third route. Run it on your own machine and it becomes a private YouTube. Subscribed channels are checked for new uploads on a schedule, everything that comes down lands in a real media library with thumbnails, authors, durations, tags and collections, and you watch it in the browser exactly the way you would on the original site — except the files sit on your own disk, with no algorithm, no ads and nothing being taken offline.
It runs on yt-dlp underneath, so YouTube, Bilibili, Twitch and the thousand-odd sites in the yt-dlp roster all work. One Docker command brings it up on a NAS, a mini PC or a cheap VPS.
Channel subscriptions with auto-download: Add the creators you follow, and MyTube polls them on a schedule and queues anything new by itself. Keeping up with a channel stops being a manual chore.
A real player, not a download folder: The built-in player handles playback speed, subtitles and auto-play through a queue, with an up-next list on the right. It behaves like a video site, because that is the point.
Collections, tags and authors: Every video can go into a collection, carry tags, and be filtered by its author. All three live in the sidebar, so a library of a few thousand items is still a couple of clicks deep.
Paste a link and walk away: One box at the top takes URLs, jobs stack up in a queue, and multi-part Bilibili videos come down as a labelled set. The companion Chrome extension sends the page you are on straight to your instance.
Private RSS and visitor mode: Share a collection by generating a private RSS feed a friend can subscribe to in any podcast client, or open visitor mode so guests can watch without touching your settings or deleting anything.
Cloudflare Tunnel built in: Configure the tunnel from the settings page instead of forwarding ports on the router or exposing a public IP, and your library is reachable from anywhere.
Bring your own files: Existing recordings and videos can be uploaded into the same library, thumbnails included, so downloaded and local material are managed together.
