Description
The built-in Chinese input methods have limited dictionaries, while many third-party ones ask for system-wide keyboard access. vChewing is a free, open source macOS input method written in Swift that supports both Pinyin and Zhuyin, with separate Simplified and Traditional corpora to avoid conversion errors.
It runs sandboxed, so it cannot capture global keystrokes, and offers a mode that stops apps from reading your composition early. Pinyin users get whole-sentence typing, and Zhuyin users get the widest choice of layouts.
