Description
RPN scientific calculators like the HP 42S went out of production long ago and a used one costs a small fortune, yet anyone used to reverse Polish entry and that particular menu logic finds every modern replacement awkward. Emu42 puts the machines back on the desktop: load an original ROM image and the screen shows a calculator with its full keyboard and dot matrix LCD, driven by mouse clicks or the matching keys, behaving exactly like the hardware down to programs, registers and the solver.
Supported models span HP's Pioneer series and two clamshells: 10B, 14B, 17B, 17BII, 20S, 21S, 22S, 27S, 32S, 32SII and 42S, plus the 19BII and 28S. Each model has its own skin file, so switching skin switches machine. State can be saved and reloaded to pick up where you left off.
Christoph Giesselink has maintained it for years under the GPL, and a Pocket PC build exists too. ROM images have to be supplied by the user.
