Description
As accounts multiply you end up reusing one password or keeping them on sticky notes. KeePass is a free open-source password manager: every password goes into one encrypted database file, you remember a single master password, and where the file lives is up to you, with no cloud service involved.
It includes a password generator for strong passwords by length and character type; the database is an ordinary file you can keep on a USB stick or sync folder. Besides Windows, the site shows Linux and other platforms, and a large community plugin set extends it.
Encrypted database: All entries sit in one encrypted file that only the master password and key file open.
Password generator: Random strong passwords by length and character type, filled into an entry in one click.
Entry management: Each entry holds username, password, URL and notes, organised in groups.
Import and export: Bring passwords over from other software through generic formats such as CSV.
Local storage: The database file stays in your hands, on a USB stick or sync folder, with no cloud dependency.
Extensible: Officially supports plugins, with many from the community.
