Description
You have no Apple TV, but an idle Mac is plugged into the living room TV, and every time you want to watch something you reach for the keyboard and mouse. Mac TV turns it into a TV box: connect it to the TV and you get a tvOS-style home screen, a Top Shelf of the latest shows on each app, a Dock and an app grid, all rendered in Liquid Glass.
Streaming runs in each service's official web player with DRM, so quality is not compromised. Your phone is the remote: scan a QR code once and you never have to leave the couch. The phone remote is the most convenient part.
tvOS home screen: A Top Shelf shows the latest content from each app, with a Dock and app grid below.
Streaming apps: Netflix, YouTube, Prime Video, JioHotstar, Apple TV, Spotify and YouTube Music, and you can add any website, Mac app or Steam game as a tile.
Phone remote: Connect by scanning a code, then use the d-pad, app list and TV controls on your phone.
Screensaver and settings: A screensaver and settings page are built in, and a short first-run setup lets you pick apps and scan the code.
Requirements: macOS 14 or later, Apple silicon or Intel, MIT licensed.
