IsMyLcdOK

Monitor dead pixel tester

Description

You just unboxed a new monitor and the nightmare is a single bright or dark dot, which you cannot spot on a white page with black text. IsMyLcdOK fills the whole screen with a solid color and swaps it each time you press a number key: white, black, red, green, blue, cyan, purple, yellow. Whichever color gives the bad pixel away, you see it immediately.

It is one small exe with no installer, so you can carry it on a USB stick and test at the shop before paying. For a stuck pixel there is also a mode that flashes red, green and blue at high speed, and if you leave it running for a minute or two the frozen subpixel may recover.

Features

Solid color tests: Keys 1 to 8 cycle white, black, red, green, blue, cyan, purple and yellow to find bright dots, dark dots and color casts.

Gradients and lines: 0 and 9 show vertical and horizontal gradients, F7 and F8 draw vertical and horizontal lines, handy for banding and backlight bleed.

Pixel revival: F5 starts the endurance test, flashing random red, green and blue combinations above 60 frames per second to wake up stuck pixels.

Graphics stress test: F2 measures BitBlt throughput and F3 and F4 paint rectangles and lines, a quick check that the graphics output behaves.

No installation: A single exe in 32-bit and 64-bit builds, for Windows 11, 10 and earlier.
