Description
A retired Lenovo ThinkSmart View from the meeting room only ever ran Teams, and on its own it is just a touchscreen gathering dust. This image turns it into a small talking Linux terminal: it boots straight into a voice UI, wakes on "Xiaomai Xiaomai", and can sit in front of Claude, DeepSeek and other large models.
It builds on rickx/ubuntu-thinksmart, drops the Plasma desktop, preinstalls the voice client and gateway, and fixes the usual device headaches: microphones, speaker, screen blanking, WiFi. The flashing guide is written for people and AI agents alike, so you can hand the README to your own agent and let it walk you through.
Boots into the voice UI: No desktop environment; power on and the chat screen is there
Full voice stack preinstalled: Client and Xiaozhi gateway ship in the image; connect WiFi, enter an API key in the gateway console and start talking
Device fixes: Dual microphones, speaker, screen-off and proximity wake, WiFi stability and GPU white-screen patches are handled
A flashing guide for agents: Chinese and English READMEs spell out each command, its risk and which steps need your consent first
Backup first: The guide starts with a full eMMC backup so you can always return to stock
Online updates: The client updates itself from Releases, so you do not reflash the whole image
