Description
You have a program with no source and you need to know what it is doing in memory; the old way is grinding through assembly line by line. x64dbg is the open-source user-mode debugger most Windows reverse engineers reach for, handling both 32-bit and 64-bit programs with disassembly, registers, memory dumps and call stack in one window.
It is a daily tool for reverse engineering and malware analysis: breakpoints, stepping, memory inspection and scripting, backed by a mature plugin ecosystem. The community has also built an MCP server for it so AI assistants such as Claude Code and Codex can drive the debugger.
Debugging and disassembly:x86 and x64 support, with disassembly, registers and stack in the CPU view, plus stepping and run-to-cursor.
Breakpoints and tracing:Software, hardware and memory breakpoints, conditional breakpoints and execution tracing.
Memory and symbols:Memory map, multiple dump windows, symbol and reference search.
Scripting and plugins:Built-in script commands, plugin support and customizable themes.
Getting it:Download a snapshot from GitHub Releases and run it unpacked; open source, Windows only.
