Mac Resource Monitor

Mac Resource Monitor

macOS menu bar CPU monitor

Description

The fans spin up, the cursor stutters, and finding the culprit in Activity Monitor means sorting a long list first. Mac Resource Monitor makes it one click: open the menu bar icon, the heaviest app sits on top, and the end button is on the same row.

Its trade-off is deliberate: no temperatures, no fan readings, no process tree. It does not try to replace Stats or Activity Monitor, only to answer "what is hogging my Mac" and let you kill it. The icon is the only entry point, it is open source, and nothing leaves your machine.

Features

CPU and memory ranking:Lists apps by CPU and memory use, with heavy rows highlighted.

End in one click:Every row has an end button, no PID hunting needed; system processes are greyed out to prevent accidents.

Live overview:Total CPU and memory at the top, plus a refresh toggle.

Install:Homebrew or a signed and notarized DMG, with Sparkle auto-updates; requires macOS 26 or later.
