pgAdmin

pgAdmin

PostgreSQL graphical admin tool

Description

Managing PostgreSQL with psql alone means recalling syntax every time you want to check a lock, find who is holding a connection or add a column. pgAdmin moves all of that into a graphical interface, free and open source, and it is the most widely used admin tool in the PostgreSQL ecosystem.

The object tree on the left runs from servers and databases down to tables and columns, and schema changes happen in pop-up forms. The dashboard on the right plots sessions, transactions per second, tuple reads and writes and block I/O, so you can see at a glance how busy the database is.

Features

Visual object management:Tables, views, functions, sequences, partitions and policies all live in the tree and are edited through forms, no hand-written DDL.

Query tool:A SQL editor with syntax highlighting, query plans and history.

Server monitoring:The dashboard shows sessions, transactions, locks and I/O so you can find the connection hogging resources.

Rearrangeable panels:Detach, dock and move panels; tabs on small screens, side-by-side on big ones.

Remote servers:Manage remote PostgreSQL servers, including over SSH tunnels.

Light and dark themes:Switch the interface theme to taste.
