TinyWall

TinyWall

Free ad free lightweight firewall

Description

The built in Windows firewall is capable, but rules live in advanced settings and have to be written one by one, which is hard for most people, while other firewalls keep popping up asking whether to allow a program. TinyWall takes another route: no popups and simple setup, yet it tightens the built in firewall in the background, and it is completely free.

The official page stresses a few points: no drivers or kernel components are installed, so the system stays stable; the performance impact is negligible; and there are no ads, no artificial limits, no data collection and no telemetry. It also offers tampering protection, blocklists, temporary firewall rules, UWP support and boot-time filtering. Version 3.6 was announced on 2026-10-21 with wildcard support, block reason attribution and UWP enhancements, and this is the 3.6.1 x86 msi installer.

Features

Non-intrusive: protects the PC in the background without constant popups, and setup is simple

Safe operation: installs no drivers or kernel components, which the developer says keeps the system stable

Lightweight: the performance impact is negligible and it barely uses any resources

Tampering protection: stops other programs from quietly changing the firewall settings

Blocklists and temporary rules: built in blocklists, plus firewall rules that only last for a set time

UWP and boot-time filtering: supports UWP apps and filters connections from the moment the system boots

No cost: no ads, no artificial limits, no upgrades to buy and no data collection or telemetry
