Description
The PC suddenly slows down and pop-ups keep coming, but the antivirus subscription has expired and reinstalling a suite feels like too much. F-Secure Online Scanner is a free tool from F-Secure: download it, run it, and it scans a Windows PC for viruses, malware and spyware, then leaves nothing resident behind.
It works well as a second opinion, for example when your everyday antivirus says all is clear and you want to double check. The official page says nothing is left on the computer after the scan, and that any other antivirus on the machine should be uninstalled first to avoid conflicts. This is the official 9.1 build and it supports Windows only.
Free virus scan: checks a Windows PC and removes viruses, malware and spyware with no license to buy
Run and go: launch the downloaded exe to start scanning, with no long setup first
Leaves no trace: per the official notes nothing remains on the computer afterwards, handy for a quick check on a friend or family PC
A second opinion: does not replace an always-on antivirus, but gives a separate check when you suspect an infection
