WebChangeMonitor

Web page change monitor

Description

To know whether a download page has a new version or a notice has been updated, you refresh it by hand every so often and forget when things get busy. WebChangeMonitor hands that job to a program: list the addresses to watch and it checks on a timer, then notifies you when a page changes or cannot be reached, sitting quietly in the system tray the rest of the time.

The interface is plain and the features live in the top menus. Each item has a target address, an alternate address opened on double click and a description. Items can be added one by one or imported from a config file. Checks can be triggered by hand or on an automatic interval, and each item shows its length, checksum, headers and whether the host is alive. The official site offers 64 bit, 32 bit, ARM64 and Win7 builds that run straight from the archive.

Features

Many addresses at once: watch a batch of pages over HTTP and HTTPS, each with a description to tell them apart in the list

Change and failure alerts: a notification when the content changes or the address cannot be reached, with the state shown by the list icon

Timed checks: set your own check interval, or refresh everything or a single item by hand

Content differences: keeps a content history per check, lets you view and compare differences, and draws a response time plot

Import and alternate address: import items from a config file, and double click an entry to open its separately set alternate address

Tray resident: minimizes to the system tray, and a command or sound can run when something changes
