Description
Localizing a Qt application leaves you with TS files full of angle brackets and escape characters. Translating them in a text editor is an easy way to break the structure, and you cannot tell which entries are still untranslated. Qt Linguist is the official Qt translation tool, and it lays out the source text, context and translation of a TS file as a table, so translators never touch the XML and simply fill in text and mark it done.
This repository packages Linguist on its own, so you do not need the whole Qt development environment. After opening a TS file, the left pane groups entries by context with progress for each, the middle lists the source strings, and the translation sits below. Finished entries show a green tick and unfinished ones a grey dot, and the result is then converted for use at runtime.
Grouped by context: the left side lists windows or classes with translated over total counts such as 4/5, so progress is visible at a glance
Entry by entry: the middle pane lists each source string with its status while the source text appears below for you to translate against
Phrases and guesses: the bottom panel suggests translations from what you already did, such as &File to 文件(&F), keeping shortcut styles consistent
Validation warnings: a Warnings panel points out problems in a translation, such as mismatched placeholders or accelerators
Done marker: each translation can be marked finished or not, and unfinished ones stay flagged so you can return to them
Standalone build: no need to install the full Qt toolchain, just unpack and open a TS file
