File Synchronizer

File Synchronizer

Compare and sync two folders

Description

You keep a copy of your work files on the PC and another on an external drive, and after enough edits nobody knows which side is newer. Dragging folders over each other by hand risks overwriting the fresh version. File Synchronizer takes a direct approach: pick two folders and click Analyze, so the differences are listed first, and you see what will be copied or replaced before deciding to sync.

The sync method is chosen in the Mode menu. Two way sync brings both sides up to date, one way sync makes the target follow the source only, and clone mode builds an exact copy. The window is the classic two pane layout, so what differs between left and right is easy to spot. Note that drag and drop is not supported, so folders have to be chosen with the buttons.

Features

Analyze before acting: compares the two folders first and lists new, newer and missing files so nothing is overwritten blindly

Two way sync: changes made on either side are carried across until both folders match

One way sync: pushes changes from the source folder to the target only, which suits backups

Clone mode: makes the target a complete copy of the source, removing extra files from the target as well

Side by side view: left and right panes show differences clearly and you can review each item before running

Small installer: the setup package is under 8 MB and the footprint on the system is light
