Description
Supporting Oracle, MySQL, PostgreSQL and SQL Server in one project usually means a pile of conditionals around each vendor connection and command class. dotConnect Universal flattens that: you work with one set of objects, UniConnection and UniCommand, and switching databases means changing the provider in the connection string while the business code stays untouched.
It is built on ADO.NET, so anyone who has used the SQL Server or OLE DB .NET providers will feel at home, and beyond the databases it supports natively it can reach others through ODBC, ADO.NET and OLE DB, so one data access code path talks to many databases.
Unified Uni objects: UniConnection, UniCommand, UniAdapter and UniCommandBuilder remove the need for per-database conditional code.
Mainstream database coverage: Oracle, MySQL, PostgreSQL, SQLite, SQL Server, DB2, Firebird and MS Access are all in scope.
Design-time support: It integrates with the IDE so you can configure connections and bind data in the designer.
Samples and docs: The installer bundles runtime assemblies, sample projects and help documentation, so you can run something right after installing.
Trial note: This is a commercial Devart component, the download requires signing in on their site, and .NET Framework should already be installed before setup.
