Description
Twenty Finder windows, a pile of files you stopped looking at in Preview, and QuickTime or TextEdit lingering in the Dock with no windows. Closing them by hand is tedious, and quitting the whole app takes your active windows down too. Squeegee times each window individually: "close Finder windows idle for 4 hours" closes only the stale ones and leaves the Finder window you are using untouched.
It sends a normal close, the same as clicking the red button, never force-quits, and stops at any "Do you want to save?" prompt. Resource use is near zero, with no network access, accounts or telemetry, so data never leaves your Mac.
Per-window timers: set a duration per app and only the expired window is closed.
Choose the clock: count from last activity by default, or from when the window opened.
Per-app rules plus a global default: a built-in catalog suggests rules for Finder, Preview, QuickTime, messaging apps and more.
Quit after the last window: handy for apps like QuickTime and TextEdit that stay in the Dock with no windows.
Reopen history and pause: recent closures appear in the menu bar for one-click reopen, and you can pause for an hour or until tomorrow.
