Description
Files renamed to .locked, a ransom note telling you to email the attacker, and a threat to delete one random file every six hours and the rest after 96 hours: that is Stampado. Before you consider paying anyone, Avast’s free decryptor is worth one try.
It is a purpose-built decryptor for the Stampado ransomware that showed up in mid-2016 and was sold on the dark web. The download is a single 2.4 MB program with nothing to install: double-click and a wizard walks you through the welcome page, picking what to scan and starting the restore. It only works on files Stampado encrypted; other families need their own decryptor. The file was fetched from Avast’s official CDN and mirrored here, and it runs straight after download.
Dedicated decryptor: Built for the Stampado family only, it recognizes the files Stampado encrypted and tries to restore them.
Wizard flow: Welcome page, choose a location, start decrypting, with no need to understand the cryptography.
No installation: A single program that runs as downloaded and leaves nothing behind in the system.
Free: Provided by Avast at no cost and with no subscription.
