System Scheduler

System Scheduler

A free alternative to Windows Task Scheduler

Description

Windows Task Scheduler lets tasks fail silently, throws permission errors at you, and still wears that dated MMC console. System Scheduler is built around those complaints: even the free edition lets you set a time and have it open programs, pop up reminders, or watch a window and act for you.

Everything is organized as events, and the free edition has three kinds. Run Application launches a program or file you choose, Popup Reminder shows your own message, and the interesting one is Window Watcher: define a condition for a window, such as it not responding, and it sends keystrokes to it or triggers another event. Pair events with schedules and you can build a small automation chain. The installer is only about 7 MB.

Features

Run Application:Launch a program or open a file at the set time, with parameters and follow-up actions.

Popup Reminder:Show a window with your own text when the time comes, handy for notes and break reminders.

Window Watcher:Watch a chosen window and, when a condition is met such as no response, send keystrokes or run another event.

Flexible schedules:Every event can carry its own schedule, repeating or one-off.

Free edition:All three event types are available in the free version.
