VirtualMacOniPad

macOS on jailbroken iPad

Description

An iPad Pro's M-series chip has long been fast enough for Xcode, yet iPadOS refuses to run it, so writing iOS code still means carrying a Mac too. Virtual Mac on iPad takes that wall down: on a jailbroken iPad it boots a full macOS, and Xcode, Terminal, Final Cut Pro, Logic Pro and Pixelmator Pro run on the tablet itself.

It uses the iPad's own virtualization to start macOS guests from 12 Monterey to 26 Tahoe, with Metal acceleration on every supported version, and everything stays on the device with no remote streaming. The bar is high: only iPad Pro (M1, M2) and iPad Air (M1), only iPadOS 14 through 16.3.1, a jailbreak is required, and signing into iCloud or an Apple Account is not supported. The 1 TB and 2 TB iPad Pro models carry 16 GB of RAM and feel best. It is a community project under the MIT license and is not affiliated with Apple.
