Screen Loupe

Screen Loupe

Native Mac screen magnifier and color picker

Description

Counting pixels on a design, measuring spacing and picking colors is miserable when the built-in zoom smears everything and a screenshot means switching apps to enlarge it. Screen Loupe is a native Mac magnifier: frame a Capture Area on screen and it is mirrored live into a separate viewer window, where every pixel stays a crisp square instead of an interpolated blur.

From there you can freeze the frame and save a snapshot, use the Color Meter to get HEX, CSS, SwiftUI and AppKit values plus WCAG contrast, and switch on the pixel grid and rulers to measure. It has no third-party dependencies and collects no data. Requires macOS 14 or later, MIT licensed, installable from a DMG or with brew.

Features

Live magnification:The capture area mirrors into the viewer in real time with pixel-sharp zoom and a crosshair.

Freeze and snapshots:Freeze the current frame and keep it as a snapshot for comparison.

Color Meter:Sample a color and get HEX, CSS, SwiftUI and AppKit formats with WCAG contrast.

Pixel grid and rulers:Overlay a grid and rulers to measure spacing and size.

Reference layers:Put a design on top with a Difference blend to spot where the build drifts from it.

Open images:Open, drop or paste image files and inspect them the same way.

Copy and snap:Copy the original or zoomed view, and snap the capture area to window edges.

Screenshot studio:Preset or custom pixel sizes, a timer and backdrops for tidy screenshots.
