To jot something down you open a notes app, then a calendar app, then create an event — three steps in, you cannot be bothered, and next week’s thing is forgotten.
CalendarTask (formerly DesktopCal) puts a calendar straight onto the desktop wallpaper, translucent, without covering icons or getting in the way. Double-click a day and start typing; the note stays in that cell, and you see it first thing every morning. Colour a day when something is scheduled and a glance at the week shows how busy it is.
Common holidays and anniversaries are built in, it installs on Windows XP through 11, there are Mac and phone versions, and data can be moved between devices.
