Many mail clients today are a browser in a window: several seconds to open, hundreds of megabytes resident in the background, and a wait just to glance at your inbox.
Flectar Mail is written from scratch in Rust as a native app that opens instantly and runs in as little as 20 MB of RAM. Mail, calendars and contacts sit in one window, data is stored locally so synced mail and events stay available offline, and it works with Gmail, Outlook/Microsoft 365 and standard IMAP/SMTP, JMAP, CalDAV and CardDAV accounts.
It never opens email in a WebView. Its own Rust pipeline renders HTML and CSS, email scripts don't run, and remote images are blocked by default so tracking pixels can't report that you've read a message. Complex layouts sometimes render imperfectly, and the developers are upfront that this part is still experimental. It runs on Windows, macOS, Linux, Android and iOS and is open source under AGPL-3.0.
