Copying contracts, ID scans or private photos to a USB stick or cloud drive always carries the worry that a lost stick or hacked account exposes everything, yet serious encryption software means creating volumes and remembering procedures.
S.S.E. File Encryptor keeps it simple: enter a password, pick an algorithm, then drag files or whole folders into the red box and a few seconds later you have an encrypted .enc file. Decrypting is the same drag plus your password. It uses AES-256 by default, with other strong ciphers available.
It's free software from Paranoia Works, and files encrypted here open in its Android, Mac and Linux versions too, so switching devices is no problem. The Windows version is portable and runs straight from the unzipped folder.
