HAS_PrepperDisk

Offline Knowledge Server for Raspberry Pi

Description

When the network is down and your phone has no signal, that is exactly when you need a first-aid step or a map. HAS_PrepperDisk puts Wikipedia, maps and survival manuals on a drive in advance, lets a Raspberry Pi broadcast its own Wi-Fi hotspot, and any phone or laptop nearby can browse everything in a normal browser.

It runs on a Raspberry Pi 5 with the content stored on an NVMe SSD, built on Internet-in-a-Box and Kiwix. The repo packages the install steps, config files and a custom homepage so you do not have to wire all of that together yourself.

Features

Built-in hotspot: the Pi's onboard Wi-Fi acts as the access point; join it and open box.lan/home for the offline homepage, no router needed.

Pick your content: choose what to download in content.conf (about 150 GB by default); rerunning the script resumes interrupted downloads.

Maps and medical references: pick regions for offline maps in the admin console, plus medical articles and survival guides on water treatment, food storage and knots.

Scripted install: separate scripts mount the SSD, install the services and fetch content; if the Pi reboots midway, run the same command again and it continues.

Troubleshooting notes: the README covers missing hotspots, a downed bridge and book collections that won't load in iPhone private tabs.
